History
The Lancashire & Cheshire Cricket Society was formed at a meeting of over thirty like-minded people on Monday 2nd November 1953 held at the Brooklands Hotel in Sale, Cheshire. The first Committee meeting was held two weeks later at the same venue.
The speakers for the first season were Fred Trueman, the Umpire Frank Chester and Cyril Washbrook, and all these open meetings were held at the Grosvenor Hotel Manchester. Later meetings were held at the Masonic Hall and The Waldorf Hotel.
We moved our meetings to Old Trafford Cricket Ground in the late 1960’s and met there until work on the Pavilion meant that we had to move to the Hough End Centre in February, 2012.
We now meet back at Emirates Old Trafford.
Membership Subscription
The current membership subscription is £15 a year (£3 for junior members) per year. For this you get to attend 7/8 meetings and receive 2 newsletters. There is a one-off joining fee of £5 for new and returning members.

The current membership stands at about 180, of which around half usually attend meetings
Aims & Objectives
The objectives of the Society are to foster, promote and develop an interest in Lancashire & Cheshire Cricket Clubs. To achieve this we hold 7 or 8 meetings a season running from October to April.

Format Of A Speakers Evening
The meeting starts at 7.30pm, and after a short introduction of the speaker by the Chairman, the speaker talks for about 45 mins. There is then a short interval for refreshments, followed by a question-and-answer session. The night usually finishes about 9.30pm.
Lunch-time Speakers
As above, with the meeting starting at 1.00pm and finishing about 3.00pm.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome, at a cost of £5 for the evening/lunch, this will be refunded if you join on the day.
No visitor may attend more than 2 meetings in a season
